Let’s paint a Big tree – activity 1

Things you will need

  • Chart paper
  • Watercolor
  • Glue
  • Original leaves
  • Pictures of flowers and fruits

Procedure

  1. Draw a big tree without any leaves on a big sheet of paper.
  2. Find a leaf from a tree or some other plant in the garden.
  3. Choose a color for the leaf and paint it.
  4. Attach the leaves to branches on the tree.
  5. Cut out pictures of flowers and fruit.
  6. Paste flowers and fruits on the tree.

Let’s make a slice of watermelon – activity 2

Things you will need

  • Paper plate
  • watercolor
  • Glue
  • Watermelon seeds

Procedure

  1. Use a paper plate and real watermelon seeds.
  2. Paint the rim of the paper plate green.
  3. Paint the rest of the paper plate red.
  4. Glue the watermelon seeds all over the red circle to create a ” slice of watermelon.

Let’s make a “Hula Skirt” – activity 3

Things you will need

  • String or thread
  • Scissor
  • 2 chairs
  • Glue
  • Strips of color papers or decoration ribbon paper

Procedure

  1. First, pass a length of string around your waist.
  2. Measure your waist with the string.
  3. Add another 8 inches to your waist size and cut it.
  4. Tie the ends to two chairs.
  5. Paste strips of colored paper onto the string.
  6. Leave it on enough for the glue to dry.
  7. Tie the “hula Skirt” around your waist.

Conclusion

A customary Hula Skirt is known as pa’u and is a wrapped skirt. It is normally procured by using “raffia” which is long palm fiber woven together. This is a fun activity for kids to know how we can make a simple dress from paper.
