While introducing “is, am, are” to class1 kids ensure that they understand doing words/ verbs and singular and plural forms. Doing words helps to understand the action words in the sentence. Do check out our blog for doing word worksheets.
When to use “IS”
We use “is” when talking about only one person or thing.
Example:
- Uma is happy.
- This is a pen.
When to use “Are”
We use ” are” when talking about more than one person or thing.
Note: We always use “are” with you.
Example:
- They are playing football.
- You are eight years old.
- The puppies are cute.
When to use “Am”
We use “am” only with I.
Example:
- I am a boy.
- I am eight years old.
When to use ” ing”
We add “-ing” to doing words to show what a person, animal, or thing is doing right now.
Example:
- drink + ing = drinking
- jump + ing = jumping
Worksheets for “is, am, are, ing”
In the above worksheets add “ing ” to those doing words. In the second exercise Fill in the blanks using the given doing words. Use “is, am, are ” to those doing words. I have used simple words in the above worksheets. I hope it will be easy to understand for class 1 kids.
